RAUTAHAT: A man died after being hit by a motorcycle near a petrol pump in Gaur Municipality-7 of Rautahat district on Saturday.

The District Police Office identified the deceased as Shree Prasad Mahato of the Municipality.

Mahato was riding a bicycle when he was hit by the bike ridden by Jaya Kishor Sah (23) of Phatuha Maheshpur VDC-5.

Police said Mahato had sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the District Hospital for primary treatment.

Later he was taken to Birgunj for further treatment, but breathed his last at Nijgadh of Bara on the way, informed Police Inspector Birendra Paswan.

His body has been handed over to the kin after performing postmortem at the Gaur-based District Hospital.

Police said the biker has been arrested and the two-wheeler impounded for further actions.
