Biratnagar metropolis staff launch agitation

Biratnagar, March 21:

Staffers of Biratnagar sub-metropolis launched an agitation today, putting forth their seven-point charter of demands.

The demands include permanent appointment to temporary staff, equal opportunity for

all and transport fare for the staffers.

The agitation was called by Nepal Municipality Staffers’ Association. It has warned to disrupt all work of the metropolis if the demands were not met by March 26.

The agitating staffers said that they will halt work for an hour tomorrow and the hours of pen-down will be extended by an hour everyday till March 26. NMSA unit chief Hiralal Yadav said that the demands were forwarded to the executive officer of the sub-metropolis on March 12, but the authorities neglected their demands, forcing them to launch the agitation.

Dilip Chapagain, executive officer of the sub-metropolis, who was in the capital, said

he would discuss the matter with the staffers once he returns to the town.

There are around 400 staffers in the Biratnagar sub-metropolis office.
