PARSA: A woman, who was shot in a murder attempt in Birgunj of Parsa district, died at a hospital during treatment on Wednesday night.

Nilu Patel breathed her last at the Birgunj-based National Medical College at around 9:15 pm yesterday, said police.

The 22-year-old woman was shot while she was in her deep sleep at her house on Tuesday.

A bullet was taken out from her right brain during surgery on Tuesday, but she died as no any improvement was seen, said the District Police Office spokesperson Chakra Raj Joshi.

Police have arrested her husband Birendra Patel for investigation into the case.

According to Joshi, family members may have been involved in the murder attempt.
