Khotang, February 22

A birthing centre has been established in Mangaltar Health Post at Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-6 to provide parturition service in Khotang.

Mayor Iwan Rai inaugurated the birthing centre amidst a function today. The centre will provide necessary health check-up and other facilities to pregnant women, new mothers and infants. Trained health workers, necessary equipment and drugs among others have been managed in the parturition centre.

Deputy Mayor Bimala Rai said they had set up the centre with the budget under the health sector of Halesi Tuwachung Municipality. She said, “We established the centre at Mangaltar to mitigate the untimely demise of mothers and infants.”

The municipality with 11 wards is ready to set up birthing centres at Bahunidanda, Badahare and Salle as well in other health posts earlier.
