Blast rocks Bara DDC office

Bara, January 16:

The Maoists detonated a powerful bomb in the conference room of the Bara District Development Committee building last night. The blast did not cause any human casualties.

According to preliminary estimation, damage worth Rs 400, 000 was incurred from the blast, officer of the DDC, Mohan Adhikari said. He informed that a group of seven armed Maoists overpowered the guard Hari Narayan Shah and took the key of conference room from him. They then detonated a bomb in the room.

The explosion damaged windows and door, furniture, fan and the ceiling of the room. Also the documents of different VDC including Benauli, Kolhabi, Fattehpur, Raghunathpur, Bariyarpur, Maheshpur, Haraiya, Kakadi and Parsauna VDCs were destroyed. VDCs secretaries had set up offices in the conference room of DDC building for past some time, as the Maoists had destroyed the VDC buildings earlier.
