Body of landslide victim found

POKHARA: Rescuers on Saturday retrieved one more body from among those missing in Thursday’s landslide at Bhadaure Tamagi of Kaski. The body of seven-year-old Samir Parajuli was found while three persons are still missing. In Lumle, one person is still missing. As many as 35 people have died so far due to landslides triggered by rainfall on Wednesday night in Kaski. Among the deceased, 27 were from Lumle, six from Bhadaure, and two from Dhikur Pokhari. The injured are undergoing treatment at Manipal Medical College and Western Regional Hospital. CDO Krishna Bahadur Rawat said immediate relief and alternative provision for settlement have been provided to the victims.

Two die in accident

CHITWAN: Two persons died in a road accident at Khalikhola of Chitwan on the Narayangadh-Muglin road section on Saturday afternoon. Mukti Bahadur BK, 22, of Gorkha, Deurali, and another youth who is yet to be identified, died when a motorbike they were riding was sandwiched between two speeding trucks. The accident took place when the second truck tried to overtake the bike and the other truck coming from the same direction. Both bike rider BK and the pillion rider died while being rushed to Bharatpur hospital for treatment. Police have impounded one of the trucks and detained its driver. The other driver, however, is on the run.

Minor drowns

DAMAULI: A minor died after she was drowned in Myagdekhola at Manpang VDC in Tanahun on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Rajina Pariyar, 7, of the VDC. The incident occurred while the minor was swimming in the river. She died while being treated at Setiganga community Hospital yesterday night. The body has been taken to Damauli Hospital for post-mortem.
