KATHMANDU, APRIL 17

In response to the Lok Sabha elections scheduled in neighboring India, key border crossings between Sudurpaschim Province and India have been shut down since Tuesday evening. The border crossings at Jhulaghat in Baitadi, Pulghat in Darchula, and Gaddachauki and Brahmadev in Kanchanpur will remain closed until the evening of April 19."

Baitadi's Chief District Officer, Bhimkant Sharma, confirmed the closures to Rastriya Samachar Samiti, citing security concerns amid the electoral process in Uttarakhand and Champawat, India, scheduled for April 19.

Movement across these checkpoints has been strictly prohibited until the evening of the 19th, with the closure coordinated in collaboration with Indian authorities.
