Border security tightened

Damak, December 30:

Security at the borders of Nepal and India, and India and Bhutan has been tightened on the eve of the upper house election in Bhutan, which will be held tomorrow.

Border of India and Bhutan will be closed on Tuesday and the Indian border security forces have been deployed there. Speaker of Druk National Congress, Naradmani Adhikari said large number of security forces had been deployed from Mechi to Phunsoling of Bhutan. Security at the Nepal-India border has also been tightened. “Seeing the possibility of Bhutanese refugees entering India, security has been beefed up,”he said. An election for 25 members of upper house will be held tomorrow in Bhutan. The exiled Bhutanese political leaders have been claiming that this election is meaningless since over 1 lakh Bhutanese citizens are out of the country.
