Boy swept by flood found dead, woman missing in Udayapur
UDAYAPUR: The body of a boy who had gone missing since Monday after being swept away by the flood was found in Triyuga Municipality-6 of Udayapur district today morning.
The deceased has been identified as 13-year-old Aryan Tamang, son of Arjun Tamang, a local resident of Rautamai Rural Municipality-7 in the district.
According to ward chair at Rautamai-7, Gajendra Khadka, rain-triggered landslide at Guranse blocked Chhaundiya River causing flood which broke the embankment and gushed in Murkuchi Bazaar sweeping Tamang, on Monday evening.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Bir Bahadur Buda Magar at Udayapur District Police Office informed that the body of the missing boy was found in Mohanpur this morning.
It has been reported that police had carried out the rescue operation since the flood entered the Bazaar area. Though the flood has resulted in huge loss, details of it are yet to be ascertained.
Likewise, police informed that a woman went missing after a landslide swept her house in Diliwar area of Rautamai-8, on Monday night. The whereabouts of Ranamaya Rikham Magar (55) is still unknown. Police also informed that the search was on for the missing woman.
Meanwhile, preparation was ongoing to relocate 17 households -- which are under the risk of landslides -- to a safe area.
