Boy’s murderers to be ostracised

Rautahat, June 12

Following the recent abduction and murder of a child in Dumariya of Rautahat, villagers have decided to ostracise those involved in the crime.

The son of Dilip Sah, 12-year-old Yuvaraj Sah ‘Shanideval’ of Dumariya, Katahariya Municipality had been abducted from his home on Saturday night. Ward Chair Raamagya Yadav, along with other villagers had planned the abduction of the child.

The abductors had sought Rs 10 million in ransom for the child’s release yesterday, however, they had settled for Rs five lakh later. The abductors then reneged on the agreement and killed the child. The body of the child with a bullet wound in the temple was found some 15 km away from the victims home, in Gadimai Municipality, yesterday morning.

In wake of the murder, villagers convened and decided to socially boycott the culprits. “The village meeting decided to exclude the murderers from all social functions, gatherings and exchanges in the village. Anyone lending support of any kind to them will also be excluded,” said local Om Prasad Jayasawal, adding that the meeting saw the participation of over 200 villagers.

Meanwhile, police are carrying out an investigation into the case by keeping the 12 involved in the murder in custody.

Police have found a pistol and the bullet fired to kill the child.

“As the investigation is under way, everything will come to light once the investigation is over,” said Rautahat Superintendent of Police Rabindra KC.

In view of a possible attack by irate villagers on the families of the perpetrators, the administration has mounted round-the-clock security outside their homes.
