KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 11

A landslide has once again occurred at Piple along the BP Highway in Roshi Rural Municipality-11, Kavrepalanchowk district, today.

The alternative road, which had been opened for traffic, has been blocked by a dry landslide that fell from above the highway.

Vehicles had been permitted to use the alternative route since Thursday. This temporary track was constructed through the joint efforts of the Department of Roads and Roshi Rural Municipality, following the flooding of the Roshikhola rivulet caused by continuous rains on September 27 and 28, which washed away several sections of the highway.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Man Bahadur Ghale reported that a bus and a Tata Sumo microbus, traveling from Sindhuli and Khotang towards Kathmandu, were buried under the landslide debris. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Efforts are currently underway to clear the obstructed road. However, according to Chandra Bahadur Lama, an official from the Road Division Office, the dry landslide continues, and it is unlikely that the road will be reopened for traffic anytime soon.
