DHARAN, SEPTEMBER 2

Teachers and staff agitating for the past 80 days demanding reforms at BP Koirala Institute of Health and Sciences in Dharan have warned that they will take to the street from Sunday and bring regular services at the hospital to a halt.

"The government investigation committee tasked with probing irregularities had made public its report recommending action against BPKIHS officials. Similarly, the health ministry also held talks with us and reached an agreement. As the agreement and the report's recommendations haven't been implemented, we will take to gitation from Sunday by bringing all services at the hospital, except those related to emergency and COVID treatment, to a halt" said the joint struggle committee Co-coordinator Dr Bishnu Pokhrel.

Dr Pokhrel rued the delay in implementing the report and agreement and also vented his ire at the government for failing to appoint a health minister even amid the possibility of a third wave of COVID pandemic.

Patients from as far as India come to the hospital seeking treatment.
