Office restored

Khotang: The National Human Rights Commission has withdrawn its decision to remove its contact office from Khotang after pressures from right organisations and locals. On June 6, the NHRC had decided to merge its Khotang office with the regional office, Biratnagar. “The NHRC wrote to the liaison office to carry out the daily task in the office,” liaison office chief Loknath Bastola said. — HNS

One arrested

TANAHUN: The police on Saturday held Ram Bahadur Dangol, 55, from Aanbukhaireni of Tanahun for selling hooch. Raiding his residence, the police recovered liquor bottles bearing counterfeit seals, chemicals and kits used for brewing hooch. — HNS

Abducted freed

MAHOTTARI: Businessman Shyam Gupta, who was kidnapped by cadres of the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Rajan) four days ago along with Bir Bahadur Shrestha, was freed on Sunday in the presence of his nephew, the group’s central member Ajaya Mukti said. Police said Gupta has come into contact with family. The abductors had killed him soon after abduction. — HNS
