Budget goals and programmes are attainable: Finance Minister Khatiwada
KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada has claimed the goals and programmes of budget presented for fiscal 2018-19 are attainable.
Speaking at an interaction programme on Wednesday in Kathmandu, Minister Khatiwada claimed that the set goals and programmes would be implemented, adding that projected expansion and growth in agriculture and service sectors would be crucial to build a foundation to achieve the economic growth of eight per cent.
"We expect big growth in both agriculture and industrial sectors. The construction of Melamchi and Tamakoshi which will be completed by coming fiscal year will have positive effects," said Khatiwada who also urged the public not to doubt the growth of industrial sector.
Likewise, service sector would expand by 12 per cent and budgetary goals would be achieved, Minister Khatiwada further claimed. The industrial and service sector expansion and employment related programme put forward by the government would enable an environment to provide employment opportunities to 500,000 people, he asserted.
The agriculture output would increase and stabilise price so that the budget-stipulated goal of limiting inflation at 6.5 percent could be achieved, Khatiwada added.
On the same occasion, Khatiwada also urged everyone to fulfill their responsibilities. "No one can go beyond the directive principles of the state. The state would provide equal opportunity for all to do business but they should fulfill their responsibilities from their respective sides as well," he clarified.
Furthermore, Khatiwada stated the mega projects would be taken forward in a competitive manner adding the government has invited the investors to invest in such projects.
Khatiwada also admitted that the implementation of budget would not be possible without the help of all sectors.
