Dhangadi, June 17
The budget proposed by the government in Sudurpaschim Province for the upcoming fiscal year 2021-2022 appears to be largely remiss when it comes to the welfare of the headquarters.
The government has allocated Rs 180 million for construction of structures in the Provincial Assembly and offices of the provincial parliamentary parties in its temporary provincial headquarters.
The Provincial Assembly held here about three years ago had fixed Kailali's Godawari as its permanent headquarters. But the hurdles related to implementation of the decision persists. Regarding the site, selection of the headquarters in Teghari Community Forest, wards 2 and 4 of Godawari Municipality, a case has been filed at the Supreme Court, claiming that it would be wrong to site the headquarters in a forest area.
The case is yet to be settled. This is also the reason why the provincial government hasn't been able to start any work on its proposed headquarters.
