MANMA, JULY 30

Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality in Kalikot district drew the attention of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation for the repair and maintenance of Potmara micro hydropower project located at Ward No 7 of the rural municipality.

Mohan Bahadur KC, chairman of the rural municipality, reached out to the concerned authorities at the ministry last Friday and shed light on the 500-kilowatt of micro hydropower that was completely damaged by incessant rainfall in 2020.

Chairperson KC demanded adequate budget to bring the only micro hydro power project in the district into operation again as that has been in a standstill condition for the past couple of years.

Although the locality around the Potmara micro hydro power project was connected with the National Transmission Line, chairperson KC shared that he took initiatives to bring Potmara micro hydropower into operation again as an alternative arrangement for electricity.

He shared that he had held meeting with Santosh Silwal, deputy director of the Department of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Hydropower Project. The meeting then concluded that a team of engineers would be sent to the micro hydro power project site within a week for assessment and repair of the project." The budget for the same would be allocated after estimating the cost of repair and maintenance of the project, KC shared.
