Buildings for quake-hit schools near completion in Dolakha

Ramechhap, January 11

Earthquake-damaged Bhairabi Secondary School at Sunarpani in Ramechhap is preparing to move to its new quake-resistant building more than two-and-a-half years after the disaster.

The four-room new building was constructed by the central project implementation unit under the Ministry of Education. As many as 350 students of the school have been attending classes at a temporary learning centre since the earthquake hit the country in 2015.

The school building was constructed with financial aid from Asian Development Bank. The project chief, Hemanta Kumar Budhathoki said the construction of 11 quake-hit schools had reached the final stage in the district. However, the construction of 10 other schools to be built with loan support from ADB has just started.

Around 500 school buildings were damaged by the devastating earthquake.
