KATHMANDU, AUGUST 28

BYD and its authorised Nepali distributor Cimex Inc Pvt Ltd have announced a contribution of Rs 70 million to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund to support flood relief and rehabilitation in Rasuwa and other affected areas.

The companies said the contribution would be channelled through the government's official mechanism administered by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

The funds will support rescue, medical treatment, immediate relief, rehabilitation and restoration of infrastructure damaged by the floods.

BYD Group Vice-President and General Manager of its Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division Liu Xueliang said the company stood in solidarity with the people of Nepal and hoped the contribution would support government relief and rehabilitation efforts.

The recent floods have caused extensive damage in Rasuwa, a key Nepal-China trade corridor and an important route for the import of BYD vehicles into Nepal.
