CA meeting disrupted

Kathmandu, July 2:

The legislative meeting of the Constituent Assembly was disrupted for the sixth day today, even as the political parties continued their efforts to reach a consensus to find a way out of the current political deadlock.

When chair Kul Bahadur Gurung tried to begin the proceedings, Madhesi CA members started shouting slogans.

While Madhesi members were sloganeering, CA members of other parties, including the Maoists, CPN-ML and NWPP, shouted that the disruption of the parliamentary proceedings was infringing upon their rights.

They asked Gurung to allocate time for presenting their views.

Gurung then requested Madhesi CA members to maintain calm and respect the rights of the other parties, but to no avail.

Gurung finally adjourned the meeting till tomorrow afternoon.
