CA poll security plan unveiled for far west

Dhangadhi, September 25:

Nepal Police in far western region today made public its security plans for the constituent assembly elections on November 22.

Mediapersons were briefed on the security plan on the concluding day of the three-day seminar on Nepal Police’s security plan for the CA polls.

DIG Kalyan Kumar Timsina, chief of the Nepal Police far western regional office, said 4,737 police personnel would be deployed for the 2,180 polling booths in the region. Two Armed Police Force personnel will be deployed at each polling centre while different reserve and mobile teams will patrol the election constituencies, district, zonal regions, it was informed at the programme.

He said police are short of 800 communication sets and 700 police personnel in the region and that demand for the same had been placed before the authority concerned.

The APF has said that it has set up base camps in all nine districts and election constituencies in the region.

“The base camps have been set up in all places except Melauli of Baitadi,” said APF DIG Krishna Kumar Tamang, adding that force would reach there on helicopter soon.
