Cable car service resumes

Kathmandu, December 5:

Manakamana Cable Car resumed its operations today following a month of closure.

The cable car service was halted on November 9 due to an indefinite strike called by the security guards at Manakamana Darshan Private Limited.

The workers announced the withdrawal of all their protest programmes when an agreement was reached between the cable car company and the Garud Security Services staffers in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Transport Management.

According to Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries, the security company has agreed to address all the demands of the agitating staffers, including their permanent appointment in accordance with the Labour Act and Regulations and pay for the period of agitation.

The labourers also agreed to fully abide by the Labour Act and Regulations and to not do any activity in violation of the law.
