Call for ample relief to diarrhoea victims
KATHMANDU: Association of International NGOs , which represents 90 INGOs working in Nepal today extended their condolences to the kin of diarrhoea victims in the mid- and-far-western regions.
They also expressed concerns over those affected by flash floods and landslides in the eastern region. AIN chairman Chij Kumar Shrestha, issuing a press release today, stated that AIN members are trying their best to reach out to the most vulnerable and severely affected people. “We are coordinating with the government agencies, the Red Cross, the UN and the donors, national and local NGOs, in this regard,” he said.
The release appreciated government's endeavours to provide relief to the victims. The statement also urged the government to continue mobilising available funds to save lives of people affected by the disease, flood and landslide triggered by rainfall across the nation.
It urged the government to activate Central Disaster Relief Committee and district disaster relief committee for effective implementation of the comprehensive emergency responses and rehabilitation programmes.
While the release suggested that the government focus on curative and preventive water and sanitation programme in the diarrhoea-hit areas.
