Call to free journo Shah

Bara, October 13:

Demanding an immediate release of Bara-based journalist Birendra Shah, people of Inarwasira VDC staged a demonstration in Kalaiya, the district headquarters of Bara, today.

The rally taken out from the Devkota chowk passed through various places, including the District Police Office and District Administration Office. Shah, a central member of the Press Chautari Nepal, was abducted from Dhodiya Pipara bazaar of Bara last Friday and his whereabouts are unknown.

Meanwhile, the Ramechhap chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has flayed the abduction.

Meanwhile, president of the FNJ’s Ramechhap chapter, Himal Dhungel, said in a press statement today that the Maoists have made all journalists angry by not making Shah’s whereabouts public at a time when a team of FNJ and human rights activists has said in public that the Maoists are involved in Shah’s abduction.
