Campaign to remove illegal structures
Dhangadi, June 26
Dhangadi Sub-metropolitan City has started demolishing illegally built structures along the river banks in urban areas of Kailali.
The sub-metropolis has intensified its campaign to demolish illegal structures after stakeholders didn’t heed the authority’s order to remove such structures. “The sub-metropolis demolished illegally built structures along the 10-kilometre stretch of river banks in the past four days. We cleared structures in five places using dozers and excavators today,” said Mayor Nrip Bahadur Buda.
Sub-metropolis spokesperson Santosh Mudbhari said the general public had extended support to the campaign.
“Removal of illegal structures along the river banks will reduce loss of lives during floods,” said Mudbhari. The rivers engulf a huge land area during floods.
The sub-metropolitan city, had in the past, also conducted ineffective campaigns for the same. This time around there is direct involvement of local representatives and river cleaning campaigns are also going on.
Meanwhile, Dhangadi sub-metropolis is also set to open a bicycle track along the Kailalinala and Mohana River in the district.
