Campus to have statues of ‘martyrs’

Chitwan, February 26:

The All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (ANNISU-R) unit in Saptagandaki Multiple Campus, Bharatpur, will erect statues of four student ‘martyrs’ on the campus premises. The foundation stone for the same was laid today.

On the occasion, central member of the ANNISU-R and coordinator of the statue construction committee, Ramchandra Adhikari, said the campus chief, other campus teachers and board of directors have assured him of cooperation. Chairperson of the unit Sita Neupane chaired the programme.

Advisor to the construction committee and former campus chief Balkrishna Poudel and Chintamani Poudel, on behalf of the martyrs’ family, expressed their views.

Eight students of the campus were killed during the Maoist people’s war and they were declared martyrs by the Maoist-affiliated students.

The students declared martyrs are the then chairman of the free students’ union Bikas Adhikari, Harikala Poudel, Rishi Regmi, Kiran Poudel, Sharada Shrestha, Shivhari Timilsina, Khagendra Poudel and Subas Pandit.
