DAMAULI: Eighteen days after the first phase of local elections, only one candidate has submitted details of election expenses in Tanahun.

All candidates have to furnish expense details within 30 days of the polls.

Independent candidate Harishchandra Wagle, who ran for chair of Byas Municipality, Ward No 4, is said to be the only one to submit poll expenses in the district so far. He spent Rs 38,327 for election.

As per the election code, the ceiling of poll expenses is Rs 4.5 lakh for candidates running for mayoral and deputy mayoral posts.

Similarly, for rural municipality, the ceiling is Rs 3.5 lakh for candidates running for chair and vice-chair and Rs 1.5 lakh for ward candidates, including ward chairperson. — HNS
