Can't support amendment bill as it is: RPP's Kamal Thapa

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party's Chairman Kamal Thapa said that his party would not support the proposed amendment to the Constitution at the existing state of affairs.

Arguing that some contents in the Constitution Amendment Bill were against the national interest, he pointed out the need for unity among the parties.

Since both the Madhesi parties and the main opposition CPN-UML are not satisfied with it, and the people in the Province No. 5 also are agitated, according to him, the amendment proposal should not be moved ahead and the government should find its alternative.

He was speaking at the Reporters Club in Kathmandu.

"This proposal should not be moved ahead at the existing state of affairs. Doing so will but invite confrontation."

He was of the opinion that a bill should be brought in a new way by forging understanding among the parties.
