Caste row separates newly-wed
Tanahun, October 19:
Two days into marriage, Krishna Bishwokarma (19) of Jamune-9, Tanahun district, has been forced to separate from his newly-wed wife Sajani Shrestha (17) of Jamune-1.
Sajani was apparently disappeared by her parents, who were against the inter-caste marriage, yesterday afternoon. The duo had tied the nuptial knot as per the Hindu tradition in Akala temple near Tharpu. The groom’s family was present at the wedding.
“We were heading to Sajani’s home after her mother said her family would accept our marriage. On the way, about 20 men seized Sajani from Dumrebazaar and took her to an unidentified location. She has gone missing ever since,” said Krishna. He said they were in love for two years.
Feeling insecure, Krishna has been living in his relative’s house in Markechowk in Abukhaireni VDC. Krishna said he had been receiving death threats after Sajani’s abduction. “Talking over phone, Sajani’s relatives have threatened to kill me,” Krishna said. However, Sajani’s maternal uncle said Sajani hadn’t married anyone. “This is just a rumour,” he added.
