Kathmandu, January 4:
Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala today warned that the institution of monarchy will be in for a serious setback just in the event the nation comes under either active monarchy or the rule of the rebels.
“Take it from me it will be the monarchy which will suffer a setback regardless of whether the nation plunges into active monarchy or the rule of the Maoists,” Koirala said addressing party workers at a function organised by the Prajatantrik Bichar Manch.
Koirala, who has been consistently reinforcing the demand for the restoration of the dissolved House as the only solution to the longstanding crisis, once again stressed the urgency of the same. The NC leader claimed it was the unconstitutional nature of the incumbent government which was discouraging the Maoists from accepting the offer of talks.
Koirala also claimed that he had worked enough to ensure talks with the Maoists. “But, I am not getting enough cooperation from the King,” he said.
