Chand-led Maoists to fight against corrupt
Lamjung, March 28
Youth volunteers of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist party have vowed to launch a campaign against the corrupt and traitors.
The announcement came at a corner meeting organised by the party’s sister wing National Youth Volunteers in Lamjung district headquarters, Besisahar, today. The Besisahar programme was organised as part of the NYV’s Mechi-Mahakali Collective Youth Awareness Campaign.
Prior to the programme, members of the organisation had performed a march-past in the town.
NYV secretariat member and western state coordinator Pahad rued the failure of the new constitution to accommodate the gains achieved by the decade-long Maoist revolution and second people’s movement and called on the people to take up the cudgel against wrong elements.
Describing the mission to prod youths against corruption, black-marketing and other wrong practices, he reasoned that no communist could accept the parliamentary polity.
“In fact, we want to warn those who think that the Maoist movement finished just by looking at ‘Prachanda’ and ‘Baburam’. It hasn’t died yet and we’re still ready to sacrifice ourselves for the cause,” he remarked.
CPN M Lamjung Secretary Abiral Neupane, who welcomed the participants of the campaign here today, echoed Pahad in cautioning the corrupt, depraved and other wrong elements, while NYV central member Motiram Khadka said the campaign will conclude on Wednesday in Kathmandu.
The month-long campaign started from Jhulaghat in Baitadi and arrived in Lamjung via Gorkha. The 55-member team is led by NYV central treasurer Mina Chalaune.
