KATHMANDU, AUGUST 16

In order to facilitate easy financial transactions and provide cashless services for taxpayers, Chaurjahari Municipality of Karnali Province is launching an online revenue collection system.

A partnership agreement to that effect was signed between Chaurjahari Municipality and Khalti Digital Payment Service (Khalti Digital Wallet) in Kathmandu on Thursday to facilitate online payment for revenue collection, said Chief Administrative Officer of Chaurjahari Municipality Sher Prasad Dhakal. The online system aims to make revenue collection easier and more technology-friendly.

In the first phase, services such as business registration, renewal, group registration, and firm listing will be offered, Dhakal said, adding that other services will be gradually expanded.

This system is being introduced to integrate the use of information technology in service delivery along with the growing digital literacy, according to IT Officer of Chaurjahari Municipality Dharma Raj Bista.

With this, the local government will no longer make carrying cash for revenue payments mandatory. It will be easier for those who can utilize technology to pay their revenue, Bista said. Additionally, it is believed that this system will eliminate the issue of taxpayers incurring penalties for failing to pay revenue on time.
