CEC Yadav urges election employees to work confidently

KATHMANDU: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has directed government employees to work confidently so as to make the upcoming May 14 local level elections a success.

In his address to the training on election management and operation organised for election officers in the Election Commission (EC) today, the CEC Yadav called on employees to be deputed in the election to have full confidence and high morale, and be committed to fulfilling the responsibility given to them for conducting the election in a free, fair and peaceful atmosphere. "The EC is with you all."

Atmosphere conducive to the election was being created, he said, urging the election officers to instantly inform the EC if they confronted with any challenge while on duty and work confidently as the government had guaranteed their security.

The local level elections scheduled for May 14 on Sunday this year is a tool to enforce the constitution and institutionalise democracy, according to him.

"To conduct the election of 744 local levels for the enforcement of constitution is itself a great contribution to the nation," he added.

To fulfil the responsibility of conducting the local level elections skillfully meant for institutionalising democracy and strengthening the local level is itself a great opportunity for all, EC Secretary Gopinath Mainali said.

Similarly, EC Joint-Secretary Nawaraj Dhakal stated that the local level elections was a means of devolving rights centered in the Singha Durbar to local levels and it should be held as a celebration.

A total of 28 individuals are participated in a day-long training. Knowledge and information on electoral laws, regulations, directives, process and procedures and vote counting will be imparted during the training.
