Chief Justice Karki returns to SC after her suspension stayed

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Sushila Karki on Friday evening returned to the Supreme Court to resume her office after the impeachment motion moved against her was stayed by an interim order.

Chief Justice Karki went to the Supreme Court for attendance this evening, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported, quoting SC's Associate Spokesperson Biswharaj Paudel.

A single bench of Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana stayed the impeachment motion, which was filed at the Parliament Secretariat on April 30 with signature of 249 lawmakers, and relieved Chief Justice Karki from suspension today.

The interim order asked the stakeholders to reinstate Karki to the top judicial post from today itself.
