Child killed in Pokhara car hit

POKHARA: A three and a half year old child died after a car hit him in Pokhara Metropolitan City-11 of Kaski district on Saturday.

District Police Office (DPO), Kaski has identified the deceased as Sanskar Kandel of Majhthana in Pokhara-28. According to Spokesperson at the DPO, Police Inspector Ganesh Subedi, the incident occurred when the car (Ga 3 Cha 436) hit Kandel at the motorcycle parking area of Manipal Teaching Hospital at 8:30 am, critically injuring him.

Kandel was taken to Manipal Hospital where he breathed his last at 10:00 am the same morning during the course of treatment.

Police after preliminary investigation said that the father of the child was parking his scooter while Sanskar was following his mother who was walking ahead, when the incident occurred.

Inspector Subedi informed that the car driver is a doctor at Manipal Hospital, where the child was visiting his grandmother.

Following the incident, relatives of the child were enraged and the situation became tensed with police at the premises of the hospital. The kin of the deceased have refused to receive his body and have demanded strict action against the doctor involved in the incident.
