Child NGO Federation to shelter kids orphaned by tremors
KATHMANDU, April 27
Child NGO Federation and Federation of Child Home today said they were planning to take full responsibility of kids who lost their family in the earthquake.
The organisations said they would take full responsibility of the orphaned kids who are 16 years old or below.
Manoj Kumar Kandel, General Secretary of Child NGO said,” We have 150 other member organisations in our network. Each organisation will be providing shelter to three to five kids. We have already prepared accommodation, for 500 children as of now. Police and other Child Welfare organisations are also helping us in this.” He added, “No kids have come to us till now, but we have informed the rescue teams and other concerned authorities about our plan. The children will be kept at the nearest organisation from the devastated area,” said Kandel.
Police, rescue team, other organisations and foreign volunteers are also mobilising to help them. The organisation will be keeping the kids safely in tents for now and later shift them to the nearby organisation. “
The children will be provided shelter in nearby member organisation such as Lamjung, Gorkha, Pokhara, Chitwan,” said Kandel. Foreign organisations are also raising fund for the children. “Right now we only have managed accommodation for 500 kids, but if the government supports, we could provide shelter to more kids,” said Kandel.
