BAJURA, JULY 17

Ward Chairman Dharma Raj Padhya said the kids had been left in the lurch after their mother died six years ago and their father died a week ago. He said Sangita Chadara, 14, Rasila Chadara, 12, Bibek Chadara, 9, and Bikram Chadara, 6, of the municipality have been stranded. Their father Haribhane Chadara died while receiving treatment in Shimla, India, a week ago and their mother Lakshya died after she fell from a cliff while collecting fodder some six years ago.

Haribhane left for India with four children for his treatment after he had kidney problem.

Sangita said that they had gone to India after her father's treatment was not possible in Kathmandu. The children worked as labourers.

They used to pick up apples in the farm to earn treatment expenses of their father.

The children reached Bajura with the help of their relatives and are taking shelter in the neighbour's house.

"We have no other option than to beg for survival," said Sangita in tears, adding that they even had to leave school after their father was diagnosed with kidney ailment.

They used to study in Laxmi Secondary School.

A relative of the kids Bir Bahadur BK said that the stranded kids were brought to Nepal from India. He said that Haribhan was taken to many hospitals of the country even in Kathmandu-based Teaching Hospital, but in vain. Sangita has urged all the people to extend all possible help to support her siblings' daily meals and studies.
