KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 27
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal expressed that he found his China visit to be more successful than he had initially expected.
During a program organized by the Nepali Consulate General as part of his China visit, PM Dahal discussed the significance of his trip and the positive outcomes.
"I was wondering how the China visit would turn out as I arrived here directly from the US. However, I felt that the visit has been highly successful," he stated.
He further emphasized the importance of his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, noting that President Xi allocated an hour to the Nepali delegation during the meeting. PM Dahal pointed out the rarity of such a generous allocation of time by the Chinese President and expressed his belief that this moment was exceptional for the Nepali delegation.
PM Dahal also believed that this meeting would mark a milestone in Nepal-China relations and anticipated that it would yield positive results in the near future.
In addition, he mentioned his meeting with his Chinese counterpart, describing it as significant. During their discussions, they reached an agreement to reopen the border points that had been closed between Nepal and China since the earthquake and Covid-19 pandemic.
This reopening would facilitate trade and benefit local communities, he explained. He also highlighted that the agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed between the two countries were in the best interest of Nepal.
During the occasion, PM Dahal urged Nepal's Consul General in Lhasa, Nawaraj Dhakal, to work effectively and responsibly in his role.
