Chitwan schools to remain shut till
Chitwan, October 28
Owing to the petroleum crisis, private schools in Chitwan on Wednesday decided to resume classes only after the Chhath festival.
Many of the schools, which were supposed to resume classes from Wednesday, said they were forced to take the decision because of the ongoing agitation and the ensuing petroleum crisis.
Bhupendra Dhital, president of Higher Secondary School Association Nepal, Chitwan, said they were compelled to announce closure of schools till the Chhath festival due to the acute fuel shortage. There are 16 higher secondary schools in the district.
Around 4,000 students have been studying in these schools. Many of the schools operate their own vehicles to pick and drop their students.
Meanwhile, private schools in Bharatpur and eastern part of the district also have announced closure until the Chhath festival.
However, Chitwan president of Private and Boarding School’s Organization, Nepal, Bel Bahadur Gurung said private boarding schools in the western belt of the district resumed classes from today.
These schools have urged the guardians to drop and pick their wards themselves.
