CHITWAN, MAY 18

CPN-UML has secured electoral victories in three local levels among the seven local levels in Chitwan district. UML has formed local governments in Madi, Kalika municipalities and Ichchhakamana rural municipality.

Meanwhile, in Bharatpur metropolis, Ratnanagar, Khairahani and Rapti, poll counting is ongoing where the five party alliance is leading the vote count.

In Ichchhakamana RM, Dan Bahadur Gurung of CPN-UML has recorded a massive win by surpassing the Nepali Congress leader Gita Kumari Gurung by 1,502 votes, contesting as the mayoral candidate from the alliance.

Similarly, in Kalika Municipality, CPN-UML candidate Binod Regmi won the mayoral post by a narrow margin of 143 votes after defeating NC candidate representing the alliance Shivram K.C.

In the same manner, in Madi municipality Tara Kumari Kaji Mahato--who had been elected as the deputy mayor during the 2074 local level elections-- contesing from the CPN-UML ticket defeated Krishi Kafle of Maoist Centre by a vote difference of 2,172.

Renu Dahal leads by a wide margin in Bharatpur

By the time this report was filed, 31,693 total votes had been counted of which 11713 were secured by ruling alliance's Renu Dahal. Meanwhile, UML'a Bijay Subedi is trailing with 9518 votes and NC's Jagganath Paudel has received 5147 votes.
