KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 23
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday filed a chargesheet at the Special Court against nine individuals for illegally leasing public property belonging to Rastriya Secondary School to a private school in Kaski district.
According to CIAA Spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel, the accused include Ram Bikram Rana, Chairperson of the School Management Committee; Sahara Pradhan, the Committee's ex-officio member and Ward Chairperson of Pokhara Metropolitan City–1; and five other committee members. They have been charged with unlawfully deciding to lease the school's property for 12 years to Anjuli Secondary School, a private institution in Pokhara.
The CIAA has also named the private school's Principal, Sunita Kunwar KC, and board member Raju KC as defendants, concluding that they were involved in the illegal agreement.
The School Management Committee had decided on March 9, 2024, to lease the school's property for 12 years in the absence of the member-secretary. The agreement was signed three days after the Committee's decision.
Earlier, the Education Division of Pokhara Metropolitan City and the Ward Chairperson had directed the School Management Committee to scrap the contract, stating that the agreement was illegal.
