CIAA's Sudurpaschim Province office settles 3,672 graft cases

BHIMDUTTANAGAR: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)’s Sudurpaschim Province office has settled more than 3,600 graft cases in the past six years.

At a programme organised to mark the International Day against Corruption at Bhimduttanagar in Kanchanpur district on Sunday, the constitutional anti-graft watchdog body shared that it had cleared 3,672 cases among the complaints lodged at CIAA during the period.

On the occasion, the CIAA province office informed that registration of corruption-related complaints has witnessed an upward trend in the province of late.

According to the CIAA data, Kailali district has seen the highest registration of 1,221 complaints out of which 1,033 were settled in the period.

A total of 261 complaints were registered from Darchula district since the establishment of the office while 214 of them were cleared. Likewise, there were 495 complaints from Baitadi, among which 395 were settled.

Dadeldhura district had seen the registration of 350 complaints of which 211 were settled. Likewise, Kanchanpur had 1,044 complaints and 933 out of them were settled, shared the CIAA province office.

There were 243 complaints in Bajhang where 180 were cleared. Bajura saw the lowest 116 complaints and 106 of them were settled.

Achham registered 211 complaints and saw the settlement of 174 cases. Doti had 341 complaints and 311 cases were settled, shared acting Office Chief of CIAA Sudurpaschim Province, Gyanendra Prasad Dhakal.

The CIAA further informed that it had settled 232 cases in the Nepali fiscal year 2070/71; 1,134 in 2071/72; 1,043 in 2072/73; 695 in 2073/74; 411 in 2074/75 and 121 in the current fiscal year.
