Citizens’ role in development stressed

Kathmandu, August 21:

Spokesperson of the Nepali Congress-Democratic Dr Minendra Risal today said the citizens should contribute from their sides to develop the country.

Inaugurating the Shreemad Bhaghbat Gyan Mahayagya at Khulamunch, he said: “Besides the efforts of political parties, Nepalis should contribute from their side for the development of the nation.”

NC MP Kamala Pant said physical disability is a compulsion. “Visually-impaired women are suffering more in the society than the men,” she added.

Another NC MP Tirtha Man Dangol, former minister Dr Mangal Siddhi Manandhar and UML MPs demanded that the government declare Pandit Narayan Pokhrel a martyr.

The mahayagya, being organised by the Nepal Integrated Blind Development Association (NIBDA) to collect funds for the establishment of a technical school, will be recited by Pandit Din Bandhu Pokhrel. The school will provide training to 50 people who lost their eyesight during the Jana Andolan-I and II as well as the victims of 10-year-old insurgency.
