CoAS Chhetri discusses bilateral, security issues in India

Kathmandu, February 2

Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chhetri, who is on a week-long India visit, today held a meeting with his Indian counterpart General Dalbir Singh and discussed issues regarding bilateral security and military cooperation.

He separately called on senior Indian officials, including Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Home Minister Rajnath Singh, and discussed issues of mutual interest, according to the Directorate of Public Relations of Nepali Army.

He also met India’s Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Robin K Dhowan, Chief of Staff Committee Chairman General Bikram Singh, Chief of Air Staff Arup Raha and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

These meetings dwelt on issues of bilateral relations and mutual interest, the Nepali Army said. General Chhetri also attended a security meeting organised at the Indian Army’s briefing hall.

The national force, however, has not shared much about the issues discussed during these meetings.

A guard of honour was offered by a unit of Indian troops in Chettri’s honour at South Block lawn. He is set to receive the title of honorary Chief of Indian Army from India’s President Pranab Mukherjee tomorrow.
