Cold snap strikes Tarai making everyday life difficult

DHANGADI:  Cold snap along with dense fog have hit Kailali district hard affecting day-to-day life.

With an impending scarcity of firewood and increasing cold snap, school children, elderly citizens and daily wage earners are finding life difficult. Moreover,  people have turned public areas into fireplaces to cope up with the winter wave .

Likewise, cold has added up to the woes of farmers as fungal diseases have caught crops. “The stem and leaf of potato have been seized by fungus because of the cold weather,” local farmer Man Bahadur Chaudary said, “We have invested huge amounts in our potato fields but as of now the crops are rotting.”

Similarly, health workers have reported a rise in the number of patients affected from cold related respiratory ailments.

Moreover, Dhangadi Airport, the only airport with daily flights in Province 7, has seen flights being canceled because of a dense fog, Airport Office informed.
