Kathmandu, July 20:

Three ministers of the royal cabinet today told the High-Level Investigation Commission chaired by former Supreme Court Justice Krishna Jung Rayamajhi that they are ready to bear collective responsibility for the killing and suppressing people during the Jana Andolan.

“The three ministers, however, said they cannot take individual responsibility for the killing and the suppression of the people’s movement,” a member of the commission quoted the former ministers — Narayan Singh Pun, Buddhi Man Tamang and Buddhi Raj Bajracharya — as saying.

Talking to journalists, former minister Pun said every member of the Cabinet, including the King who was the chairman of the then council of ministers, should take the responsibility for every action of the then government.

The high-level investigation commission today quizzed the trio for their alleged involvement in suppressing the mass movement. The commission also interrogated administrator of the western region, Chhatra Bikram Shah, and the Lumini zonal administrator Ram Krishna Pant.

The high-level commission will interrogate Madhukar SJB Rana and Krishna Lal Thakali tomorrow.
