Communists are more dangerous than royalists, says Sujata

Narayanagarh, Feb 16:

Minister without portfolio and Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujata Koirala today said that she spoke in favour of the king realising that the communists are more dangerous than the monarchy.

“I spoke in favour of the king after observing the Maoists’ activities,” she said.

Speaking at a party cadres’ meet organised by the Chitwan chapter of NC here, she said: “Since the communists are more dangerous than the monarchy, BP Koirala had suggested that NC should never establish intimate relation with the communists.”

Protesting against the activities of the Maoists as well as the Young Communist League, she said being supreme commander of the PLA, Maoist chairman Prachanda cannot contest the polls.

Blaming the interim constitution for the present instability in the country, she said: “Things have been added in the constitution and erased from it based on whims.”

“Maoist chief Prachanda, during his recent meeting with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, regretted that annulling the constitution of 1990 and drafting a new one was a mistake,” she said.

Saying that Jana Andolan II had the mandate of reinstating the parliament only,

she said: “The Nepali Congress unwillingly agreed to the idea of drafting the interim constitution due to the Maoists’ pressure.”
