Community schools include 'computer lesson' on curriculum in Bhojpur
BHOJPUR: The community schools in eastern hilly Bhojpur district are becoming technology-friendly.
Many schools including Vidhyodaya Secondary School; Yashodhara Secondary School; Panchakanya Secondary School, Chyangre; Vishwapremi Secondary School, Yaku; Sagarmatha Secondary School, Ghoretar; Vidhyeshwor Secondary School, Gogane have included computer lesson on the curriculum. Majority of them have started operating computer classes in respect of modern technology despite having lack of teachers and proper physical infrastructure, and unavailability of supplementary materials, according to a teacher at Panchakanya Secondary School, Ramji Rai.
The students are enthusiastic about computer lesson in the schools said Sameer Rai, a computer teacher at Yashodhara Secondary School, Taksar.
Free Student Union President at Bhojpur Multiple Campus, Prakash Singh Rai expressed his belief that computer education and electronic library facility were also necessary for college-level studies.
Ishwor Mandir Kathmandu — an institute in which former finance minister Shankar Prasad Koirala is associated with as an advisor — has been supplying computer and other supplements to the schools. Comparing computer with pen, general secretary at the institute, Sanket Koirala said the campaign of distributing computers had completed its first phase and expected to distribute more computers and other supplements to the schools from eastern to western regions of the district.
The school teachers were of the view that not only students but also the teachers needed to be technology-friendly to keep up with the age of information and technology since the knowledge from books were not adequate.
