Compensation sought from security forces

A father, accusing the security forces of killing his son, has called on the authoritiesconcerned to provide compensation for the brutal act.

Tanka Prasad Bhandari, along with his wife and daughter, in a statement issued today, claimed the forces had shot Hari Shankar Bhandari of Teenpiple, Melung VDC-6, Dolakha district, at his shop on Mangsir 3.

The statement appeals the NHRC, local human rights organisations and the civic society to support their cause.

According to the forces, Hari and another person, who were killed on that day, were Maoists. But the locals said Hari was not a Maoist activist.

Meanwhile, the Maoists, in a statement issued today, informed that 13 Maoists and five civilians were killed since the end of the ceasefire, adding Hari Shankar Bhandari was among their fallen cadres. Tanka accused the local administration of delaying justice to him.

Dolakha CDO Chandeshwor Acharya has promised to probe into the matter.
