Consensus government impossible, says Pokhrel

CPN-UML standing committee member Shankar Pokhrel today said a national consensus government was impossible in the present context of the country.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Chautari in Birtamod, Jhapa, today Pokhrel opined that Nepali Congress had deceived in implementing the new constitution as the party boycotted the intellectual agreement. “Therefore, a national consensus government is almost impossible,” he said.

Former minister for communications Pokhrel held that the government had achievedsuccess in six months. “Reconstruction and socio-economic development are the major agendas of the present government,” he informed.

He said that the government was committed to establish federalism through the law. Pokhrel further added that the Oli-led government was successful in establishing diplomatic relations with the other countries.

He further claimed that Prime Minister KP Oli had played a significant role in establish relations with other countries and had been guided by development issues rather than political onees.

“Political discussion should focus on developmental activities of the country,” he said. He added that Prime Minister Oli has been playing an active role towards this end.
