‘Conspiracy to delay general convention’
Biratnagar, February 25
Nepali Congress central member Shekhar Koirala today said a conspiracy was being hatched to delay the 14th General Convention of the party.
Speaking at a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union in Biratnagar, Morang, today, Koirala held that party President Sher Bahadur Deuba is hatching a plot to extend the party general convention. “We have only one year, but Deuba is trying to add two more years,” he added.
On party president Deuba’s comment that NC was not Koirala’s private property and questioned who Shekhar was in Birgunj, Koirala held that he knew who he was and added that he would not abandon the political culture of the Koirala clan, but would work to strengthen it.
Koirala called the government’s activities anti-people. “Corruption has been increasing and the government is trying to take the media under control,” he said. Koirala added that the government was weakening the wide body aircraft purchase scam. “Government is also defaming the Nepali Army,” he said.
The NC leader said activities of the NetraBikram Chand-led Nepal Communist Party was to revive chaos in the country.
“The government should talk with them and take legal action if they have committed crime,” he said.
